Sam backs Monty's rookies

With just a few days to go before the start of the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor (October 1-3), former European captain Sam Torrance knows exactly what Colin Montgomerie is going through but believes he has a strong enough team to bring back the trophy.

They are rookies but these are top players. I don't think they'll be intimidated at all. I think it's a strong team."

Torrance also agreed with Corey Pavin's decision to pick Tiger Woods. "Woods is the best player in the world. He didn't play for six months this year and he still only just failed to make the team automatically. You have to have him in your team.
